景點介紹

Akama Shrine is an imperial shrine in Shimonoseki.
Located on the waterfront of the Kanmon Strait, Akama Shrine has a very deep connection to the Genpei War; the shrine is dedicated to Emperor Antoku, who died as child in the Battle of Dan-No-Ura, which brought the Genpei War between the Minamoto clan and Taira clan to an end.
The site of the Battle of Dan-No-Ura is approximately 10 minutes walk away from Akama Shrine.
The shrine also has a connection with the famous Japanese mythology, "Hoichi the Earless".
